Any time you start in with spring cleaning or emptying out an estate, it can be overwhelming. The amount of rubbish you end up with when getting rid of anything that no longer serves you can be too much for an ordinary bin; but is it enough for a skip?
Skips Come in All Sizes
You can hire a skip in several sizes, so it’s possible to hire one that is just right for your needs. There are quite a few options to ensure you have enough space for everything, but not too much space.
So, what size of skip will you need? That depends on the project you’re working on. A regular spring cleaning may mean removing a few pieces of broken furniture, toys that are no longer useable and the like. For these sorts of cleans, a relatively small skip will usually do just fine.
If you are doing an estate cleanout or tearing down an outbuilding, you’ll have a lot more waste that needs to be taken care of. In this case, you may need multiple skips or a roll on roll off skip, which can hold a lot more rubbish than the others.
Still not certain you need a skip? Try estimating how much rubbish you have if you were to bag it all up. The smallest skip is 4 cubic yards, which holds around 18-20 bags of rubbish. Do you have enough to fill a minimum of 12 bags of rubbish? If so, then you definitely need a skip.
Cost is also a factor and when you look at how much you would need to pay to remove 10 or more bags of rubbish, a skip is much more cost-effective. This can be a huge saving and makes more economical sense.
Of course, if you find that you have everything from bags of rubbish to furnishings to get rid of, you’ll need a larger skip. The skip makes it simple to eliminate everything you want, without worrying about what the rubbish collector will say.
Skips are available in a range of sizes, but if you’re getting rid of furniture, you probably want a larger skip, one that is 8 or 12 cubic yards. These are large enough to hold your chairs and a regular-sized table without issue.
